Reflection & Evaluation

Ghaya 8.2 The theme of my artwork is Cubism, and the unit tittle is Lets Smash it Up! First, we looked of what Cubist paintings look like, and they look like a smashed mirror that has different shapes and different viewpoints within one picture frame. We started this unit by doing some practice in our sketchbooks. We had to do some observational drawings of objects we would like to include in our composition. We drew our objects from lots of different viewpoints. We then did more inquiry through fracturing in coloring pencils and tonal rendering in paint. The skills I developed throughout my work are blending in colors and choosing the right color scheme for my piece. I used these two skills wisely and carefully. I didnt really find any difficulties in attaining these two particular skills. I used some elements during this unit: line, pattern, shape and color. I started by choosing what objects I would draw from different angles. My work was 2 dimensional and my final work was produced by acrylic paint. I tried different compositional arrangements before producing my final work. I worked on some thumbnails in my sketchbook. Then I picked out the best one. I took pictures of my objects from different point of views. I didnt find any lack using brushes because I got really good brushes, and I had no difficulties in blending at all. However, with straight edges I had some problems. My work was carefully rendered. I was happy with my result, because it looked nicer than what I expected. I really enjoyed this project because it is interesting. I used my time wisely in the class but didnt come in lunch breaks. I took it home

instead (spring break and weekends). I was really organized in setting up the equipment, gathering materials and cleaning my tools after using them and I didnt waste my time at all. I learned that we could portray multiple viewpoints by viewing them in different viewpoints. My art skills improved at tonal rendering and making objects look real. My lines could have been better and looked better. But, I dont like my mark and I would like to improve it. I also showed my sister in what I learned and came up with a cubism painting that she enjoyed doing with me. I do think I will use the skills I have learned in future projects.
