UNIVERSITY OF PUERTO RICO AT HUMACAO ENGLISH DEPARTMENT EDPE 4006 Practice Teaching Eliezer Morales Ruiz.

. Reflection: January 24, 2013. The topic of discussion during this week has been Sentence Structure. Mr. Bonkosky embraced the students creativity by having them doing a foldable exercise related to the different types of sentence structures. This foldable was for points and the students were free to decorate it how they wanted. For my surprise, our cooperating teacher Mr. Bonkosky, handed me the foldables of my group the 9-5 as my first experience of evaluation of students work. The teacher handed us a rubric for the evaluation of the foldable and the experience of that was quite interesting. I discovered through the evaluation exercise that some students master the topic but others need to continue to work on it. Also this day the T.C. Celisse Cuadrado and I visit the school library to interview the librarian. As we enter to library I felt sad about how tiny it was. The school is small in terms of territory space, but the fact is that the school library Is one of the most important spaces in every school. The library is a place where the students develop their knowledge and go further on exploring topics presented in every class. It is also a place to work on classroom assignments, study and just grow in learning. The librarian is new in the school and in terms of materials most of it works, but because the space issue, he needs to work on how to arrange everything. The library is also very dark, and that is not good for reading, which seems a downfall for the place that you are supposed to find books and read. Right now I dont see a solution for the space issue other than moving the library to another building or constructing and working on rearrangement of the school facilities, which as we know its going to take time.
