COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING & CODING THEORY Time Allotted: 3 hours Full Marks: 60 Instructions
1. 2. 3. Candidates should make the circuit connection for performing the experiment. Candidates should draw the circuit diagram; tabulate the range/rating of all the apparatus used and the results. Analyses of the results are to be clearly shown, followed by plotting of curves (if required) and discussions (if necessary).

Distribution of Marks
1. Problem presentation and organization of the Experiment-15 [specifications of the components used, ranges and resolution of meters used, circuit diagram, objectives and principles of operation, working formulae ] 2. Conducting the Experiment- 15 [taking data in tabular form, drawing of necessary graphs ] 3. Results and Discussion - 10 [calculation and discussion of results, possible errors, precautions ] 4. Viva- Voce 20.

Answer any one question 1. Set up an amplitude modulator and draw the modulated output for a sinusoidal input signal. Measure the modulation index for three different values of modulating signal amplitude keeping the frequency constant. 2. Draw a typical single tone frequency waveform. Measure the frequency deviation for two different values of modulating signal amplitude while the modulating signal frequency remains constant. Find modulation index also. 3. Demonstrate a PAM system. Draw relevant waveforms. 4. Demonstrate a DSB-SC modulation system. Draw relevant waveforms. 5. Set up a circuit for a sinusoidal modulating signal to get a PWM waveform. Trace the output, measure the maximum and minimum pulse width variation. 6. Set up a circuit to observe the PPM Signal. Draw relevant waveforms. 7. Set up a frequency modulator and draw the modulated output for a sinusoidal input signal. Measure the modulation index for two different values of modulating signal amplitude keeping the frequency constant. 8. Set up an amplitude modulator and demodulator circuit. Draw relevant waveforms for a sinusoidal input signal. Measure the modulation index for two different values of modulating signal amplitude keeping the frequency constant.
