Amendments to Department Order No. 73, Series of 1998, Accreditation and Assignment of DPWH Project Engineers and Inspectors

It has been observed that some field engineers applying for accreditation

are holding non-engineering positions which is not in accordance with the prescribed requirement under Department Order No. 73, Series of 1998. Henceforth, in order to further delineate the classification of field engineers, specifically for those holding non-engineering positions, Department
Order No. 73. Series of 1998 is hereby amended to read as follows:

5.0 Procedure for Accreditation 5.1 Who may be Accredited

"

'All DPWH licensed civil engineers, regardless of appointment status and occupying a position title from Engineering Assistant to Engineer V may apply for accreditation. However, engineers holding non engineering positions (Draftsman, Construction ForemaniCapataz, Engineering Aide, Supply Officer) among others who have applied and passed the said accreditation will be accredited and will be designated only as Project Inspectors (PIs). Accordingly, the said classification ranks may be upgraded upon their request as soon as they have acquired an engineering position (Engineer II and above) and additional qualification requirements after the initial accreditation ". Except for the above amendments, the other provisions of Department

Order No. 73. Series of 1998 as amended by Department Order No. 41. Series of

2007 shall remain in force.

This Department Order takes effect immediately.
