Unit# 8 Linear Graphs and their Applications

Definitions
1. An Ordered Pair of Real Numbers:
An ordered pair of real numbers x and y is a pair (x, y) in which elements are written in specific order.

2. Cartesian Plane:
The plane formed by two straight lines perpendicular to each other is called Cartesian Plane. It is also known as coordinate plane.

3. Co-ordinate axis:
In Cartesian Plane two mutually perpendicular straight lines are drawn, these lines are called Coordinate axis.

4. Origion:
In Cartesian Plane, the point O where the two lines meet is called origion.

5. Abscissa:
The x- coordinate of the point p(x, y) is called Absicssa.

6. Ordinate:
The y- coordinate of the point p(x, y) is called ordinate.

7. Collinear points:
The set of points which lies on the same line are called collinear points.
