    MANCHURIA: WHAT HAPPENED? Japan (part of the league) was going through economic depression and it tried to overcome it by forming an empire. 1932 Japans armed forces took over a part of china called Manchuria and threw out the Chinese civilians. They renamed it as Manchukuo. China asked for help to the League of Nations.
