HEROW Vision Statements

VS-1: To design and develop Self-Sustaining Survival Houses for Homeless and
Starving human suffering relief aid and work in parallel with as many other Relief Aid Organizations as possible to make the SSSH an international reality.

VS-2: The HEROW Self-sustaining Survival House should be designed as a

prefabricated unit capable of quick assembly through the implementation of mechanical devices such as pin and post, snap-fit, Lego-style, etc. designs for external wall construction and assembly. The design should be a durable, stack-able, store-able unit capable of enduring drop shipment via aircraft into areas of extreme human hardship.

VS-3: Electrical power should be generated from nature through the use of solar, wind,
rain and fuel cell technology, but may also require a backup feed source such as natural gas or propane. Of course, additional study will be necessary to determine the power requirements for all systems under consideration for use in the unit.

VS-4: Appliance installations should be designed to be unmistakable as to their

location in their wall locations, and they should snap into place and electrically connect to their wall outlet simultaneously. The house should be software controlled through a Master Control Unit for occupant comfort and safety, as well as maintenance interrogation via wireless links.

VS-5: Communication devices should be via satellite, cellular or some type of wireless
technology to form the World Wide Web internet and telephone links, allowing the occupants to join the world in communication and education thus becoming a positive asset for their family and community.

VS-6: All sleep and drawer type furniture should be built into walls or snap into their
wall installation points and fold into those locations for storage or room enlargement capabilities.

VS-7: At present, the theory of growing vegetables in the sleeping quarters has been
confirmed through several academic sources, but further investigation and study will be required to understand food growing capabilities, capacities and proper crop rotation to keep the occupants healthy. as an internal local system to the Self-Sustaining Survival House unit.
