Reasons why Zambian Parliament is considering adopting Bungeni: Uses open standards such as XML for preservation of information Uses open source systems lower Cost of Ownership Support is available to user Parliament from the Bungeni team through a growing community Has features needed by the Zambian Parliament supporting workflows to generate content

Features of Bungeni
Processing of Parliament documents such as:
Questions Motions Votes and Proceedings Order Paper (Agenda) Provides workflows for approval of the Parliamentary documents Easy information publishing to a generic or custom website

Areas of Application
Legal and Journal Services Bungeni will be introduced to this department providing services to the business of the House Questions, Votes and Proceedings and Order Paper processing Clerks Office Automate the approval processing of questions and other parliamentary documents Processing of the Hansard

Benefits
Once Bungeni is implemented in the Zambian Parliament the following will be the benefits:
Efficient processing of Parliamentary information Provide a system of archiving documents for easy access and future preservation Automate the approval process of documents Fulfillment of the mantra of taking Parliament closer to the people in line with Parliamentary Reforms

Challenges
The following are some of the challenges:
Customization of Bungeni is a tedious process with so many XML configuration files to change Luck of programmers with technical programming skills to extend features of Bungeni No parliamentary model using Bungeni to support Parliamentary processes NO ISP support Plone websites in Zambia
