    Dog Collar

    Purpose: The purpose for this procedure is to outline the safe use and installation of a Dog Collar or Safety Clamp. Procedure: 1. Ensure correct safety gear is worn: Hard Hat. Safety Glasses. Safety Boots. Safety Goggles.

    2. Before using a dog collar it should be check for worn dies, springs, and cuter pins. If removing pins or dies with hammer wear safety goggles. 3. When picking up dog collars, use the handles only, and both hands. Wrap the collar around the pipe approximately 4 inches above the slips. (Heavy dog collars 2 Floorman to lift and apply.) 4. Another Floorman locks in the tightening nut and tightens the collar using the proper dog collar spanner. 5. As the Floorman tightens the collar, the segments should be tapped lightly with a hammer to ensure proper contact of the dies. 6. Finally tap collar spanner with hammer to make sure its firm. 7. To remove dog collar reverse the procedure.
