QUESTIONS Compare wet mount and the stained cheek cells A wet mount uses a clear saline water which has a translucency effect making it helpful to be stained. It also has the tendency to flatten the specimen making it easier to view. Different kinds of stain on the other hand offers the cells to be colored, thus, be able to identify its nature and characteristics. Stage the advantage that was gained by staining cells

What do various kinds of cells in these tissues have in common? What are the main differences you observed among these cells. Protozoan Cell Shape No definite shape Structure/ Method of Locomotion pseudopods Cellular Uni or Feature and Multi Observation cellular Has more Uni than one nuclei Changes its shape Single celled Uni organism Has two Uni nuclei

Amoeba

Euglena Stained cells are easier to see. When one looks at it, its components can be seen easily. One will be able to appreciate the different parts like the cell wall, chromosomes, nucleus and mitochondria. In an unstained cell, it is very difficult to differentiate the components of the cell. However, theres no such thing as a universal stain which can colour both living and non-living cells. Methylene blue was picked up by living cells, while Trypan blue is picked up by dead cells. It implies that one must be knowledgeable of the stains effect to the cell in order to determine the type of cell being observed. Are all the stained cheek cells nearly the same size and shape? Propose an explanation for your answer. The base layer of cells in an epithelial structure are not actually cells, but a sticky layer on which the cells anchor. If you stain the cells they are the same size and shape as unstained, they are just easier to see Paramecium
