DETAILS MEP/Plumbing
PLUMBING DETAILS
Plumbing details, like mechanical details, are often repeated from job to job. The plumbing engineer and the plumbing technician must decide what details are needed to relay the necessary information. Some of the commonly used details in the plumbing section are as follows: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Interior and exterior clean-out details Water heater piping detail Roof drain details Floor drain details Piping diagrams (details) Riser diagrams (details) Yard hydrant details Manhole details Equipment connection details

Like the site, structural, architectural, and mechanical details, the plumbing details should contain all the information needed to install the detailed equipment properly. Dimensions may be required, and if so, they should be accurate and complete.

CHAPTER SUMMARY
Details help architects, engineers, and designers/ drafters coordinate designs with the various tradespersons. Details sometimes start as freehand sketches that are placed on the working drawings after coordination conferences. Site details include demolition plans and grading and site work details. Structural details show how structural members are to be joined and usually include notes and dimensions. Architectural details list types of materials, how members are joined, and dimensions and finishes for members. Mechanical details list types of materials, how members are joined, dimensions, connections, and mounting devices. Plumbing details include information needed to install and give sizes of equipment. Electrical details contain diagrams to relay information and include dimensions. Details for small buildings are often placed on the floor plan sheets or wherever space is available; for large buildings, details are usually titled, numbered, and placed on a separate sheet.
