So rst we attempt to replicate: learning the building blocks of the underlying structure. then we try to improve or change to t our purpose. A method of working that doesn't just apply to art but also to all realms of human understanding.
The assignment
1. Replicate an organic object in clay 2. Create 3 functional ceramic pieces inspired by your selected object. Each piece in the series of 3 must have elements that match your organic object. The nal ceramic works should not exceed the size of a shoe. 4. The nal series will consist of 4 ceramic pieces. Consider how to display them as a group or otherwise. (The order or arrangement and or perhaps a container.)

Project Timeline:
1. Complete the Functional Organic Forms: the series Handout (Tuesday-Wed.) You must have an object in hand. 2. Begin construction of your replication of your object. (Thursday- Monday). 3. Sketch-out your project proposal form with written descriptions of how you plan to build your 3 functional pieces. Due no later than Tuesday Sept. 10th 4. Build your series. (make sure you have meet with Mrs. Schulman (individual consultation) before you begin.) 8 classes 5. All Final works complete and ready to re beginning of class Friday September 20th. Class critique and nal glazing and presentation discussions.
