    Mathematics
    We are exploring different ways to solve single digit addition (this week) and subtraction (next week). I have seen lots of different ways from the Fitz Family! You may hear some of the terminology we use in class while your child is doing their homework (I hope you do!). A popular solution is the count on method, where students start with the higher number and continue counting up from that starting point. Another mental strategy that I am becoming fond of is the make-a-ten strategy. Check it out!

    Celebrity of the Day is a great get-to-know you activity. It is also a great way to incorporate writing into our day. We are really working on the first and second step of the writing process (brainstorming writing ideas and writing). Due to time, our fan mail letters are really rough draft copies. It was exciting to see some students, who usually have trouble coming up with writing ideas, thrive at this opportunity to write bucketfilling compliments to their friends. Keep up the fabulous work!
