Corporate Social Responsibility is the continuing commitment by business to behave ethically and contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families as well as of the local community and society at large

Azim Premji is the chairman and MD of WIPRO Technologies. WIPRO (Western Indian Products) founded by Azmi Premjis father in 1947 at Amalnar, Maharastra started as vegetable oiling company. 1966 Azim took the leadership of the company and transformed WIPRO into consumer goods company. 1975 set up Wipro Fluid Power. 1979 developing own computers.

Three main in areas which WIPRO do CSR are: 1. Environment 2. Education


3. Energy

This initiative is organized as a trust and works with funds donated by Wiproites and these funds are in turn matched by Wipro. Wipro Cares projects in the following areas: Education

Healthcare
Environment Disaster Rehabilitation

Education Projects: Back to the Future - A learning centre for children They work through an NGO called Towards Future to provide learning opportunities and bridge schooling. Their primary objective is to prepare the children to go to regular schools. They also provide them a nutrition supplement in this centre.

Supporting girls to complete their high school They work through an NGO called Rockfund that encourages and enables girls to pursue their education till 10th standard by providing them financial support. This is done through close interactions with the childs parents and the schools. The parents have to commit their support in allowing the child to study
Teachers Training Center - Parivartan They work through an NGO called Door Step School to educate, train and equip teachers to educate migrant children. Community Centre to fulfill the need of children They work with an NGO called Swadhar to address the needs of children of all ages in a particular area.

Healthcare:
Wipro Cares launched Project Sanjeevani, its first rural healthcare project, on the 6th of November 2009, in Aurangabad district. It was launched in partnership with Savitribai Phule Mahila Ekatma Samaj Mandal (SPMESM), a reputed NGO, which has extensive experience in working in rural health care. The project will cover nine small villages, all situated in and around Wipros Waluj factory. Over the next three years, Project Sanjeevani aims to build a sustainable Primary Healthcare system with the involvement of the local population. Towards this aim, the project will:
Provide quality primary health services by operating a Mobile Health Clinic Strengthen the local Anganwadi institutions to improve the attendance of children so as to as certain and improve their health Identify and treat malnutrition cases in the project area Identify and register pregnant women and provide them with basic medical services Create awareness regarding personal hygiene, diet and vaccination through awareness programs and counseling sessions

Environment:
Ecological Development of a lake in Manikonda,Hyderabad The Manikonda Lake, measuring an area of about8.84 acres, has been drastically shrinking over the last few years due to the developmental activities around it. The objective was: to develop a bio diverse lake eco system improve the water holding capacity create roosting and nesting sites for local and migrant birds develop weed patches as feeding and breeding grounds for birds Transplantation of trees in Bangalore: Till date, they have transplanted 40 trees from busy roads in Bangalore into public places. Another 30 trees have been transplanted into their own campuses Less Plastic for Me' campaign: Along with an NGO called Saahas, that works in the area of waste management, they are creating awareness regarding the ill-effects of use of plastic. In this endeavor they have Worked with and educated people at supermarkets, malls and shops Introduced common collection centers for used plastic in schools, apartments and super-markets Worked with educational institutions through various clubs and active groups to motivate students to reject the use of disposable products on campus and ensure

Disaster Rehabilitation:
Gujarat earthquake relief: Provided mobile physiotherapy units Helped to build a health center with a physiotherapy unit to provide care to patients
Orissa cyclone relief: Built a cyclone shelter equipped with a siren, life jackets and HAM station This center also works as a school and is equipped with blackboards and benches

The Women of Wipro (WOW) council launched various initiatives to facilitate, enable and empower women employees. Panel discussions with internal women leaders, mentoring programs for high potential women, workshops and development programs and a Women of Wipro website enable women to grow in their careers. These initiatives have ensured a consistent increase in women representation in various levels in the company over the last few years. Representation of women in Wipro has increased from 19% in 2004 to 29% in 2010.

WATIS is a focused initiative towards systemic reform in school education in India, to improve the quality of education. A partnership of over 30 organizations with specific projects on the ground is at the core of this initiative, involving over 1000schools across 17 states. They supported a two year project for writing a book titled What Did You Ask At School Today? by Kamala V. Mukunda and was published by Harper Collins.
A new Holistic School Engagement project was initiated with Center for Education and Voluntary Action (CEVA) in Chandigarh. They work with the New Public School (NPS), Chandigarh in creating a teaching-learning environment based on experiential and participative practices. They partnered with Udaan-Janvikas, Ahmedabad to help the organization build a resource center for educators. Udaans work is with children who primarily depend on government schools and the work is focused on influencing the government school system.

In 1981, seven engineers started Infosys Limited with just $250. Infosys Technologies Limited is a multinational information technology services company head quartered in Banglore. Infosys is the second-largest IT company in India. It has offices in 22 countries and development centers in India, China, Australia, UK, Canada and Japan From the beginning, the company was founded on the principle of building and implementing great ideas that drive progress for clients and enhance lives through enterprise solutions.

The Health, Safety and Environmental Management System (HSEMS) at Infosys is called the Ozone Initiative This project spreads environmental awareness and implements eco-friendly practices across development centers worldwide. Further, this vision is supported by voluntary groups of employees organized into eco-clubs. Infosys' vision is to become "carbon and water neutral". It undertake several initiatives to neutralize our environmental impact: 1. Water Management:- Potable water is a depleting resource. It harvest rainwater and consistently reduce the use of fresh water. In addition, it recycle waste water to be reused for primary and secondary purposes. 2. Energy Conservation:- Infosys uses energy responsibly. It measure our utilization of energy through energy audits. The data collected is used to achieve increasing levels of energy conservation. 3. Waste Management:- Waste is recycled scientifically. It reduce waste, segregate it at the source and dispose it at dedicated waste segregation and processing plants a teach development center. 4. Control-Climate:-Infosys hosted the Indian Youth Summit on Climate Change at Hyderabad under the auspices of the Indian Youth Climate Network. Delegates discussed how India can be powered by 100% renewable energy and signed a declaration on climate change.

The foundation has donated 10,200 sets of books in Karnataka alone, and in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Orissa and Kerala, under its Library for Every Rural School project. Through this program, the Foundation has set up more than 10,150 libraries in rural government schools.

To identify and help students in dire need, the Foundation works with Prerna, an NGO in Raichur and Bangalore, and Vidya Poshak in Dharwad,to distribute scholarships to poor students.
The Foundation has also made donations towards the reconstruction of old school buildings. For instance, 14 government schools in slum areas of Hyderabad were reconstructed The Foundation collaborated with the Center for Environment Education(CEE), Bangalore, for the orientation of teachers specializing in science and the environment. The Center developed training material on water The Foundation constructed a science center at a rural school in the Kolar District of Karnataka, a one-of-its-kind center in the entire district. It caters to the students of the school, as well as schools in the neighbouring villages

The Foundation constructed the Infosys Super-specialty Hospital on the Sassoon Hospital premises in Pune. This hospital caters to poor patients It has spread its donations for medicines to aged and poor patients suffering from cancer, leprosy, defects of the heart/kidney, mental illnesses and other major disorders. It helps this section meet substantial medical expenses and assures them of a steady source of income for their treatment The Foundation installed office management software at the KEM Hospital in Mumbai. This enables the hospital to manage store requirements, keep accounts as well as publish hospital papers and other information on the Web The Foundation has donated ambulances to medical centers and hospitals in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, Gadag, B.R. Hills and South Canara in Karnataka and Kalahandi, Chandrashekarpur and Bhubaneswar in Orissa It has also donated high-tech surgical equipment to hospitals located at Mysore, Bijapur, Bellary and Hubli in Karnataka The Foundation has made donations to the Drug Foundation for Nuclear Medicine at the cancer hospital in Miraj and the Kidwai Hospital in Bangalore
