BIOTIC COMPONENTS The living organisms are the biotic components of an ecosystem. In ecosystems living things are clasified after the way they get their food. Example: producers(autotrophs)-organism capable of photosynthesis, consumers(heterotroph)-herbivores and carnivors, decomposers-microorganism.

ECOSYSTEM PROCESSES
PROCESS 1: WATER CYCLE PROCESS 2: MINERAL CYCLE PROCESS 3: ENERGY FLOW PROCESS 4:COMMUNITY DYNAMICS (SUCCESSION)

CATEGORIES OF ECOSYSTEM
OPEN ECOSYSTEM Allow energy and must exchange across system boundary. Most natural system are open system. Example: hydrosphere CLOSED ECOSYSTEM Energy but not mass is exchange across the system boundary.

Example: earth system
