Treatment Product: Our production company Triple S Productions has come up with a two minute opening sequence to a horror

or trailer called Breathless. Our production company aims to market our production at the internet the reason being is that many teenagers use the internet on a daily basis such as Twitter or YouTube therefore, it may gain a lot of views, we also aim to market our production at cinemas, televisions and also magazines. Magazines are another thing that teenagers now-a-days may read regularly in order to for example keep up with the weekly gossip. As teenagers are our main target audience, it is important that as a group, we successfully aim out production at them and as said before, twitter may be a great way to publicise and expose this as many teenagers use this social networking site on a daily basis, publishing this on twitter may mean that we ca successfully reach our target audience. Target Audience: Our target audience is aimed at teenagers and adults aged 15 and onwards (around 15-35) therefore the certification for our production is a 15. The socio-economic groups we targeted were the lowermiddle and working class and possibly as our production is aimed mainly at teenagers meaning they will most likely not have a large amount of disposable income (if any at all) and they will most likely also be in education. It will also be marketed at both young males and females who have an interest in horror films such as SAW or Insidious. As a group, we aim to receive an optimistic response and we also aim to alarm our audience as the genre of our production is a horror, this can be done through not only the filming but also the editing, especially the sound, we also aim to target a mass audience within the category so that we can receive feedback for more than one age group. Context: Our product should become popular through the means of mediums we use to create awareness of it; the marketing we hope to use; the internet Twitter, YouTube, search engines such as Google, Facebook, etc. This would increase awareness of our production and the more exposure it has, the more our target audience will know of it and as will others. Also, the internet is easily accessible to all. It will also mean we can collate more feedback as it will be well known. Also television (Film4, Channel 4 etc). Media Languages: Our aim is to follow many of the conventions of a horror film as it will give or target audience a sense of practicality. This should be done by using sound, editing and lighting as they are really important when creating a horror production, if all three are done to a really good standard, the production can be as great as planned, it will frighten the audience and also the atmosphere will be eerie and tense. Also, the shots used in our production will add to tense atmosphere as it will create an effect depending on how rapidly the shot may change etc. For example, within our production, there will be a shot whereby the character of Zoe (main character) wakes up, she looks around whilst her eyes are out of focus, they come in to focus and suddenly, her eyes are in focus on the 1:00am on her alarm clock, the quick transfer of attention will alert and possibly shock the viewer, this may mean that the time is emphasised and has a meaning behind it.

Furthermore, the location and actors/actress in the production should be of the same or at least a similar age group as those that our production is targeted at. Moreover, sound is also extremely important, especially when the audience least expects it, this will lead to the viewer being shocked and somewhat fearful. Often, in horror films, less dialogue and more dramatic sounds are scarier and so in our production, there will not be much dialogue, all in all it will be mainly non-diegetic rather than diegetic. Institutions: The name of our company is Triple S Productions and our production will be dispersed across the vast majority of mediums such as the internet, television and magazines; this allows us to reach our target audience not only within the UK (nationally as we are a British production) but also internationally, which is what we hope to end up reaching. Representation: We will be presenting our characters stereotypically as this will help our target audience relate to the final production. An example of this dominant representation is at the beginning of the production, our main character, Zoe, will converse shortly with the character playing her mother, at this point Zoe is acting careless and uninterested as to what her mother has to say and therefore playing the role of a typical teenaged girl. Genre: We have decided to with the genre horror this is due to the fact that we, as a group believe that it sparks interest within our target audience and it also leaves us with many options as to what the opening sequence could be based upon. We used many different films and extracted a few ideas e.g. the editing of sound and/or shots used in order to make the final production effective and appealing. We aim to follow the codes and conventions of a horror; we also decided to leave the two minute opening sequence of our production at a cliff hanger, leaving the audience wanting to see more and wondering what happened. Our location can be classed as stereotypical as it is set in a house, this may make our production seem more relatable and it may frighten the audience as it is normal and could happen to anyone however this may not meet the expectations of a horror as a house is a normal location unlike a haunted mansion however, it will be filmed in the night and this will mean it will be silent and also, eerie.
