The Honorable David R. Obey, Chairman

The Honorable Jerry Lewis, Ranking Member
Committee on Appropriations
H-218, The Capitol
Washington, D.C. 20515

Dear Chairman Obey and Ranking Member Lewis:

I am requesting funding for DA Gang and Drug Crime Investigation and Prosecution in fiscal year
2010.

The entity to receive funding for this project is:

County of San Diego, District Attorney
330 West Broadway
San Diego, CA 92101

The funding would be used for the investigation and prosecution of gang-related crime and
drug crime by the San Diego County Office of the District Attorney. San Diego County is
facing massive budget cuts as a result of California's mUlti-billion dollar deficit. The Office of
the District Attorney alone must cut its budget by $12-million" which will directly impact the
office's ability to successfully investigate and prosecute gang-related crime and drug crime.
At a time when the budget for gang and drug crime fighting is decreasing, the incidence and
severity of gang and drug crime in San Diego County is on the rise.

I certify that neither I nor my spouse has any financial interest in this project.
