Hemorrhoids

This is an anal
condition with the
dilatation and
distortion of
submucosal venule
plexus of lower
rectum and
subcutaneous venule
plexus of anal canal
forming venous
clamps. Hemorrhoids
can be classified as
external, internal and mixed types. In traditional Chinese medicine hemorrhoids are
believed caused by improper diet with too much uncooked, cold and spicy food,
indulgence in alcohol, constipation, and over exertion of bowel movements.

Treatment:

Foot massage:

1) Hemorrhoids: The massage is applied to anus (32), rectum (31), anus and rectum
(52), sacrum (56), small intestine (25) and transverse colon (29) reflecting areas.
2) Anal fistula: The massage is applied to anus and rectum (52), adrenal gland (21),
urinary bladder (24), lymph nodes (upper body, 39) and lymph nodes (abdomen, 40)
reflecting areas (Fig. 103).

Foot acupuncture:

Meridianal acupoints: At Shangqiu (SP 5), Taichong (LR 3), Xiaxi (GB 43), Gongsun
(SP 4), Zhaohai (KI 6), J inggu (BL 64) and Dazhong (KI 4) acupoints, a reducing
acupuncture technique is applied and the needles are retained for 20 minutes.
Acupuncture or embedding acupuncture at Shugu (BL 65) may produce a good
analgesic effect after an anal operation.
