The lack of a written UK constitution is a misnomer. The UK constitution exists and it is written albeit not in one cohesive document.

The strengths of the separation of powers provide what is ostensibly a control mechanism to prevent too much centralization of power and to give a visible sense of justice and democracy. The weaknesses of the separation of powers are that they are not completely separate, and there remain a number of blurred boundaries. There remains an overlap in the composition of the Executive and Legislature. The UK has existed for several centuries and during this time it has never overthrown a government or rejected the monarchy, and the UK justice system is the cornerstone or template of justice systems around the world. During this period, other countries have embarked upon sweeping changes to their constitution as a result of social upheaval. There is perhaps a sense that the UK has been doing something right, or other countries have been doing something wrong. If it is not broken, dont fix it.
