INDOOR RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES Scrabble - a word game in which two to four players score points by forming words from

individual lettered tiles on a game board marked with a 15 by 15 grid Objective of the Game: to have the highest number of points at the end of the game when the extra letters run out and one person doesnt have any letters in their hand. How To Play: 1. The first player combines 2 or more of his letters to form a word and places them on the board with one letter on the center square. 2. Player then draws as many new letters as he has played, thus always keeping 7 letters in his track. 3. The second player adds one or more letters to those already played to form new words. 4. No letter may be moved after it has been played. 5. The two blank tiles may be used as any letter desired. 6. Any words found in a standard dictionary are permitted except proper nouns. 7. Play continues until all tiles have been drawn and one of the players has used all of the letters in his rack or until all possible plays are made. Terms: Duplication describes a rack that has more than one of a given letter Power Tiles it consists of two blanks, the four Ss and the letters J, Q, X, and Z Tile a piece that is being used in playing scrabble Challenge a term used when an opponent thinks a play is not acceptable Hook Letter a letter that will spell new word when it is played with in the front of or at the end of a word already on the board Triple Word Score a dark red square on the scrabble board; when a word is played using this square
