Ramchandra Guha Wrote a Book Titled Gandhi Before India
Historian and author Ramchandra Guha wrote a book on early years of Mahatma Gandhi. The book
titled with Gandhi Before India. In this book Ramachandra Guha outlined the life of Mahatma Gandhi
from his birth on 2 October 1869 at Porbandar, Gujarat to till his return to India from South Africa in
1915.
Sarah Outen becomes First woman to row solo from Japan to Alaska
A British adventurer Sarah Outen (28) became the first woman to row solo from Japan to Alaska. She
became the youngest person and the first woman to row alone across the Indian Ocean in 2009, going
from Australia to Mauritius.
Pakistan earthquake: Hundreds dead in Baluchistan & Created a new island in the sea
More than 327 people have been killed and thousands left homeless following a massive earthquake in
southwestern Pakistan. The magnitude 7.7 quake struck in the remote district of Awaran in Pakistan's
Baluchistan province on 25th September 2013. It is part of the Makran subduction zone, which
extends parallel to the Indian Ocean coast south of Pakistan and Iran. The quake was caused by
movement of the Earth on a fault in the crust at rather shallow depth, around 15 km below the surface
and created a new Methane spewing island in the Arabian sea.
Government Target to develop 10,000 MW Power through Solar Energy by 2017
Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has set a target of generation of 10,000 Megawatt of power
through solar energy by the year 2017. The first Phase of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission
has been very successful wherein 1685 MW of solar power was generated as against the target of 1100
MW. The Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission was launched on 11th January, 2010 by the Prime
Minister. The Mission has set the ambitious target of deploying 20,000 MW of grid connected solar
power by 2022.
BCCI imposed a Life Ban on Former IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on 25th September 2013 imposed a life ban on former
IPL Comissioner Lalit Modi from participating in any of its activities. The decision to this effect was taken
at the special general meeting under the chairmanship of BCCI President N.Srinivasan at Chennai.
Prime Minister Approves the Constitution of Seventh Central Pay Commission
The Finance Minister Chidambaram in a statement said that the Prime Minister has approved the
constitution of the Seventh Central Pay Commission. The average time taken by a Pay Commission to

Customized Pin Code to the Supreme Court of India on 26

of the Supreme Court will be 110 201. Postal Index Number (PIN) or PIN Code is a 6 digit code of Post
Office numbering used by India Post. The PIN was introduced on August 15, 1972. There are 9 PIN
regions in the country. The first 8 are geographical regions and the digit 9 is reserved for the Army Postal
Service. The first digit indicates one of the regions. The first 2 digits together indicate the sub region or
one of the postal circles. The first 3 digits together indicate a sorting / revenue district. The last 3 digits
refer to the delivery Post Office. The Department of Posts also launched Locality Based Online Pin Code

TCS to Launch First All Women BPO Centre in Saudi Arabia
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) tied up with Saudi Aramco and General Electric (GE) to set up the first
all-female business process outsourcing (BPO) centre in Riyad, Saudi Arabia. TCS, India's largest software
services exporter, will own 76 percent while GE will own 24 percent of the equity.
Vice President Dedicates Tripura State Museum, Ujjayanta Palace to the Nation in Agartala
The Vice President of India, M. Hamid Ansari dedicated the Tripura State Museum, Ujjayanta Palace to
the Nation at Ujjayanta Palace, Agartala in Tripura on 25th September 2013, which once housed the

The 68th session of General Assembly of the United Nations on 25th September 2013 signed a
declaration pledging new action to end sexual violence in conflict zones. The declaration was titled Time
to Act. Ministers from 113 countries signed the declaration in General Assembly of the United Nations
held in New York.
