Who should attend? All first-year competitors and their parents should attend Demo Day. Youll see some of the best talent in our league demonstrate their Speech and Debate events. Varsity students who are thinking about trying a new event, or who just want to see some great performances, should also attend. Demo Day happens only once a year. Do my parents have to attend? We know that your parents are probably nervous about having to judge at tournaments. So, while you are in the Los Altos High Theater learning about the different events, your parents will be in the Cafeteria learning how to judge. Well make it easy for them to learn what they need to know. Can I ask questions? YES!! There will be a question and answer period after each demonstration. You can ask the presenters why they chose their particular event, how they got started, what they consider to be the most challenging and fun aspects of their event, and anything else. Do I have to stay all day? No. Individual Events (Speech) will be demonstrated from 8:30 to 12:00. Debate events will be demonstrated from 1:00 to 4:00. You may need to check-out with your coach if you leave before the end of the day. Whats for lunch? The options are to buy pizza that Los Altos High will serve at noon ($5.00 for two slices plus a drink) or to bring your own lunch. There are no restaurants or markets nearby where students can conveniently walk and buy food. Cost is FREE for everyone! Please sign in with the Mountain View staff so they can register you as having attended. Directions (please carpool!): From 280, exit on El Monte and head east. Make a left on Foothill, a right on San Antonio, and a right on Almond. From 101, exit on San Antonio Road toward Los Altos. Make a left on Almond (look for fire station on the corner).

Park in the lot on Almond Avenue, closest to San Antonio Road. (The lot is left of the main entrance, if you are facing the school.) Students will meet in the Theatre. Parents will meet in the Cafeteria.
