Upcoming unit on money: If you have not sent in the money container, please do so. We will keep them safe and locked up in our cupboards. In the tub please place 10 x 1 Dirham coins, 10 x 50 fils and 10 x 25 fils.

In Language this week we will be writing about our weekend news in small differentiated groups. Our phonics sound for the week is z/ and /w/. We will be doing a few developmental activities to relate to this sound to make it more meaningful for the students. Our handwriting lessons are linked to our phonics sound as well. We will be working on the correct formation of the letters z and w this week. Every day this we will have reading where students will be reading a different levelled reader. We will focus on reading silently and paired reading. We will soon begin our reading assessments.

In Mathematics we will continue with our lesson about number order and then move on to our money unit. We will be making a money purse to keep the notes in. We will start addition and subtraction problems using money related sums. We will then introduce bonds. Number bonds help students realize a relationship between the mental picture off related addition and subtraction and different combinations for number sentences such as: 6 + 4 = 10, 5 + 5 = 10, 3 + 7 = 10, 10 7 = 3, etc. In our Unit of Inquiry we will be focusing on the lungs. We will be doing an experiment where we learn how our lungs work and how they are connected to our body system. We will talk about how and what we need to do to keep our respiratory system healthy.
