Adverse reaction CNS: headache, asthenia. GI: abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, dyspepsia, flatulence, nausea, vomiting. RESPIRATORY: upper respiratory tract infection.

Nursing Responsibility -Drug is started only after diet and other nonpharmacologic therapies prove ineffective. Patient should follow a standard low-cholesterol diet during therapy. -Instruct patient to take drug with the evening meal; absorption is enhance and cholesterol biosynthesis is greater. -Tell the patient to inform prescriber if adverse reactions occur, particularly muscle ache and pain.

Antilipemics
