Instrumental Lesson Plan

Objectives: Have students play through Pomp & Circumstance at a reasonable speed.

Procedures: Have students start at the beginning of the piece. Try to take the tempo a little faster than usual. Make sure the melody is brought out by anyone playing it. Identify any problem areas.

Materials: Music, instruments, stands.

Indicators of Success: Students will play the piece with little to no errors. Students will be watching and paying close attention to the conductor for the duration of the piece.

Prior Knowledge: Students will have played through the piece before, so a basic idea of pitches and fingerings will be known.

Follow Up: Have students play it again, but slightly flex the tempo to see if they are watching.
