the word) Think about athletes a lot of activities that they do are probably pretty energetic, right? And theyre really good at sports! Well after our game today I want you all to be able to tell me what you learned about lethargic and energetic activities and how they can impact your overall physical performance (or how well you can do a physical activity). Transition: Lets start by dividing you up into two teams. Ask students to number off by 2s. Ones raise your hand. When I say go I want you to walk to this red line [point]. Twos raise your hand. When I say go I want you to walk to that red line [point]. Ready? Go!

I should be standing at one end of the red lines, in the middle, so that BTW. - [Hold up Couch Potato paper] Team one, you are the Couch Potatoes, your favorite activities include video games, watching TV and taking naps. - [Hold up Energizer Bunny paper] Team two, you are the Energizer Bunnies, your favorite activities include riding bikes, running around, and dancing. - Today we will have a basketball showdown between the Couch Potatoes and the Energizer Bunnies! - Each team will form one line in front of their basketball hoop [point to line]. - The first two people in line will be given a ball. - When I say GO they will begin shooting at the hoop. EACH STUDENT GETS 3 SHOTS! If I catch you shooting more than three shots in a turn you will be asked to sit out immediately. This is your warning. - If you make a basket, hand the ball to the next

person in line then walk over to me, tell me your teams name, and get back in line. If you do not make a shot, just hand the ball to the next person and go to the back of the line. - When I yell FREEZE everyone stop shooting the balls immediately and listen for instruction. - A few safety rules: 1. Only 2 people should be in shooting range at a time, everyone else should be in line. 2. Be mindful of the other person shooting. Check for understanding: 1. How many shots does each person get during his or her turn? [3] 2. What do you do if you make a shot? [hand the ball to the next person, tell the teacher your teams name, get back in line] 3. What do you do if you dont make any of your 3 shots? [hand the ball to the next person and get back in line] Activity:

Lesson Review: - Report the scores and winning team. - Why did the Energizer Bunnies get more points? - Do you think that I gave the Couch Potatoes balloons instead of real basketballs for a reason? - What does this have to do with lethargic and energetic activities? - Explain that this game was called a simulation because its made to represent something. The Couch Potatoes had a slower moving ball and fewer points because they love lethargic activities. The Energizer Bunnies had a faster moving ball and more points because they love energetic activities. - Take away: Make sure to do lots of energetic physical activities dont be couch potatoes!
