Repair of the seaIing surface
between cyIinder Iiner and engine
bIock - WrtsiI Vasa 32
If the sealing surface is damaged to the extent that it might cause or
already has caused water leaks, the following actions should be taken:
1. From either surface 0.5 mm (max.) can be ground away without further
actions i.e. the liner after machining is 0.5 mm (max.) deeper into the
block.
2. If the damage is more severe, the following should be done:
2.1 Distance rings can be fitted. The following distance rings are
available (outside diameter of ring is 422 0.2):

2.2 Brush plating of surface.
2.3 Special thicker distance ring according to repair drawing 1V90D1193.
NOTE: The compression ratio wiII change too much if the above Iimits are
exceeded.
GeneraI advice
For the machining of the engine block, a special grinding tool is available.
The surface roughness for the sealing surface is Ra1.6.
When mounting the liner, a thin layer of non-curing sealing glue, (Perfect
Seal No. 4, Loctite Permatex 1372 or similar) should be applied on the
sealing surface. Silicone sealant should not be used.
