Reflection IntheprocessofcreatingthislessonplanIhavelearnedandtriedtofocusonabalanced approachforthecurriculum.Offeringoptionsforgiftedandtalentedstudentstobroadentheir knowledgeallthewhilehavingasensitivitytostudentswhoneeddeeperinstruction. Furthermore,Iamusingawidevarietyoflearningactivitiesaswellasindependentand collaborativework.Choosinganontraditionalherowasnotadifficultdecisionforme.I immediatelyknewIwantedtouseStephenHawkingasthetopicofstudybecauseheillustrates greatnesscanbeachievedinlightofdauntingpersonalandphysicalchallenges.Also,Ichose onlyoneofmanynontraditionalherosbecauseIwantthestudentstoresearchtheirown nontraditionalhero.Thissmallresearchexercisewillservetoreinforcethelessonandfoster theircriticalthinking.Ibelievetoacertaindegreeitistheteachersresponsibilitytoaugment

curriculumtomeettheneedsofstudents.Icertainlywillbeanadvocateincreatingdiverseand balancedcurriculumtomeettheneedsofallstudents.However,whenastudentsneeds exceedtheteachersabilitytoeffectivelyteachallhis/herstudents,thenIbelieveadditional supportisnecessary.Modifyingcurriculumcanbeseenashavinganegativeand/orpositive impactontheclassroom.Someindividualsfearthatmodifyingcurriculumwillleaveout mainstreamstudents,becausetheemphasisisfocusedonthosewhoexcelorneedextrahelp. Although,manyindividualsbelievestudentswillgainanimportantappreciationand understandingofdiversitybyincorporatingdifferentmeansofdeliveringalessonplan.Ididnot includethebonusartifact,becauseIcurrentlydonothaveMicrosoftPowerPointonmyiMac.In thefutureIwillcertainlybeutilizingtechnologyinmylessonplans.
