Dmitri Mendeleev and Marie Curie By Griffin

This is Dmitri Mendeleev.

Information about him:

He was a famous Russian scientist who specialized in chemistry, and physics. He died at the age of 73 in 1907. He died of influenza in Saint Petersburg. He was born in Tobolsk, Siberia, Russia, February 8th, 1834.

What he accomplished in science:

He discovered that the properties of elements tended to recur after a certain period of increasing protons. After that, he called it the "periodic law". That led to the periodic table, which later on enabled the discovery of the elements in the gaps of the periodic table.

This is the periodic table he created.

He predicted the existence of Germanium, Gallium, and Scandium, a different scientist discovered them.

He had an element named after him, it is "Mendelevium"

This is Marie Curie.

Information about her

She was born and raised in Warsaw, Poland in November 7th, 1867. She was a chemist/ physicist

She died of anaemia, a result of overexposure to radiation on July 4th, 1934, Passy, Haute Savoie, France.

Her achievements in science.

She discovered two elements, Radium, and Polonium. She also discovered how to measure radioactivity, and what it's affects are on living cells.

She won two Nobel prizes.

One was for chemistry, and the other for physics.
