Trading Cards
Using 5 + notecards create a set of trading cards based on the characters in your book. Each card should contain a graphic (colored) & title on the front and a brief description of the character & his/her role in the book (25 + words per card).

Music Cards
Choose (3) different scenes or sections of your novel. Choose a piece of music for each section that would be reflective of the setting, plot, and/or characters. On separate notecards, list the title of the song & artist for each section. On the back of the card, explain why you chose the song & how it reflects your novel.

Picture Collages
Create a pair of collages that compares/contrasts you and a character from your novel. Be sure to compare/contrast personality traits and motivations as well as physical attributes. Color and label your collages so viewers clearly understand your thinking.

Book Mark
Create a book mark that reflects one of more of the literary elements in your novel (characters, setting, conflicts, plot,etc.). It should also list the title & author of your book. You are not limited to colored pencils/markers and paper. Ribbons, buttons, yarn and other materials may be used. On the back of your bookmark write a brief explanation of your bookmark & how it relates to your book (50 + words).

Free Choice
For this space you may select (with teacher approval) an activity that is not featured on your menu choices but still allows you to feature your understanding of the plot, characterization, setting, and/or conflicts in yournovel.

Words of Wisdom
Using a book or website of proverbs/quotations, find (5) that you feel reflect the theme(s) or message(s) from your novel. Write each quotation out and explain its particular relevance as it relates to your novel (25 + words for each explanation.)

Recommendation Write a three paragraph recommendation of the book. This must be typed. Each paragraph needs to have proper structure. One paragraph should be a summary that explains the books plot, climax, and the main characters.

Map
Choose a specific setting from your novel. Make a colored map complete with pictures, symbols, & a key reflecting the importance of that particular setting. In addition write a brief paragraph explaining the significance of the setting in your novel.

Invitation
Create an invitation based on the characters & events of your novel. Your card should contain a neatly illustrated & colored graphic as well as the basic invitation information: What: Why: When: Where:

Choose one of the activities listed above at the completion of your reading requirement. *You may receive credit for up to (1) extra-credit book per due date. To receive extra-credit, you need to read an additional book & complete an additional project for that book. Attach and label the activity extra-credit. * Please note all projects should be thoroughly & neatly done & colored. Points will be lost if proper spelling and grammar is not used. Use unlined printer paper or tag board for projects.
