Adent anticipation begins here. \aiting begins here. lascination begins here. 1he whole spirit and
meaning o ADVLN1 is taken rom 2 Samuel .

But in this day and age, we all short o the waiting and anticipation that is Adent. I beliee we hae a
problem with aith-aith in the Incarnation, aith in ourseles, or both. lortunately, Mary the Mother o
Jesus continues to model aith-illed discipleship or us: by the way she was able to moe beyond her
ears, and how she was able to surrender hersel to God`s will. 1rue enough, she at least had the
adantage o an angel to let her know what God was asking o her, but who wouldn`t need the direct
message o an angel to do what she was asked to do lor sure, the problem is with haing enough
aith-aith in Jesus` second coming to us.

It is the Adent o the second coming o Jesus that should be illing us with joyul anticipation and zeal
or God`s reign upon the Larth. It is the same as eangelization-that quality o being so caught up in
the promises o Jesus that we simply cannot help talking about it oten and liing our lies accordingly. I am
araid that the reality, howeer, is that we lie in a time o Christianity that is dulled or een complacent-
certainly not excited and enthusiastic.

So, this Christmas, what will you pray or \hat should we all pray or I say we should pray or a
deeper aith in the Incarnation and the desire o the Creator to continue incarnation in each o us. God
so loed the world` by sending Jesus, he continues to loe the world by sending Jesus IN us. And, i in
the new year ahead o us, we can hae een a little more aith in our own being sent, perhaps we may be
able to join Mary in getting beyond our ears in order to lie our true calling.

In the end, or people o aith it is not just or Santa Claus` coming that we better not shout, better not
cry.` It is or Jesus` coming again that we should allow eery tear to be wiped away or joy-the joy that
comes rom daily being saed and redeemed.

our heritage, nicknames denote amiliarity or a special bond.
In the Old 1estament, the meaning o a name ran deep. It
identiied one`s mission, een one`s ery being.

1he amazing name Lmmanuel` was irst uttered by Isaiah
as he described to the rightened King Ahaz the promised
one who would come to redeem the people. Lmmanuel is
not a rightening name, such as Omnipotent, Omniscient,
Almighty. It does not connote distance, it does not generate
ear. 1he name Lmmanuel implies closeness and intimacy
and compassion. Lmmanuel means God is with us.` God is
entrusted to the care o a Virgin, who will bear this child.
