Dear Brothers and Sisters, Members and Friends of the Hill United Presbyterian Church: For over twelve years Hill Church has offered an alternative worship time on Saturday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Many and varied people took advantage of this service over the years. In particular, over the past year, the attendance for this service has declined to a small number of people. With that in mind, we will no longer offer the Saturday evening worship service. However, from time to time, there may be a Saturday worship service available with a seasonal emphasis such as an Easter Saturday Vigil or a Music, Art and Drama Camp Service. Of course, our Lords Day Worship Service will continue at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday! In the month of October we have our 2014 Stewardship Emphasis coming up. I will be preaching on the themes: Called To FollowChallenged to GrowSent to Serve. See you in worship as we focus on our Stewardship Life together this month! Grace to you and Peace in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Pastor Clark Sawyer

Please join us at our times of gathering for Worship, Study, Fellowship, Service and Outreach. As you do so, please invite and bring friends, neighbors and relatives to be with us! Thank you very much!

You may help the work of the Lord and your Hill family Providents and Lena! of faith by staying current on the payment of your tithes and offerings. Our ministries, programs and mission commitments go on throughout the year The next newsletter deadline is October 15, 2013 regardless of the season.

GHANA MISSION TASK FORCE REPORT We give thanks to God for the many contributions from various members, groups, and organizations of our congregation directly to the Ghanaian Scholarship Fund. $4994 was transmitted to and received by the Bubiashie scholarship committee on September 5, 2013. Thank you for your caring about these young Christian women. As we look ahead, we continue to encourage each of you to plan a contribution in this next year. We also are considering cards or letters to be sent as Christmas greetings. That is not finalized. On September 6th, this message was received from Dr. Atakro: Thank you for this mail. I sent an immediate one only to be told it had a problem. We thank God for protecting you all and being with Clark during his time of hospitalization. I hope he is doing well. Peki is also fine. We are training 18 students to become pastors, 30 as Catechists, and 15 music students. The secretary sends the monthly newsletter all the time. I read it all the time to keep me informed about Butler. I cannot forget Butler, the Church and its people. Agnes will this year begin her Bachelor of Theology course at the Trinity College. The three boys are all in school at Legon, a university close to the Trinity College. Greetings to all, Koku. Please keep the Bubiashie District churches, Bernard Daddy, chairperson of the Bubiashie scholarship committee, as well as the students in your prayers.

MISSION CO-WORKERS BARRY & SHELLY DAWSON

We trust that all of you found a good experience listening to the Dawsons speak of their past journey and their future hope for Gods work in Southeast Asia. If so and especially if you are a young adult between the ages of 19 and 30, then this paragraph is directed to you. This is a season of growth as you seek to find your lifes vocation. What is God calling you to do or to be? Do you want to make a difference? What do you want to do and how will you do it? This is a time of exploration and seeking new adventures. Maybe you have finished college, but are you on the right path? Do you think about what God may be calling you to do? Consider becoming a Young Adult Volunteer. Enter into a year of service and you may find a lifetime of change. You may truly discover where you should be and what you should do. Obviously some young adults have entered the ministry because of this experience, but others have found through volunteering that nursing is the path or being a doctor in rural healthcare is the thing, or becoming a lawyer working on behalf of immigrants, or working on environmental issues. Service can be overseas or nationally. If unsure of where you are, pray until you feel that Jesus is saying to you, follow me If this type of adventure sounds interesting, then contact Richard Williams at richard.williams@pcusa.org or online check out pcusa.org/yav. 5
