Lipids Made up of fatty acids (Carbon-hydrogen chains) Functions: Energy, structure, signalling insulation Disease example: Atherosclerosis 3. Carbohydrates Sugar, hydrates of carbon (CH2O)n Ex: Lactose, galactose, glucose Disease example: Diabetes mellitus 4. Nucleic Acids Made from nucleotide chains Carry genetic information or form structures within cells Nucleic acids found in all cells/viruses (DNA or RNA) Genetic diseases
