My Georgia Animal is __________________________________________________ Our Class Publishing Party is _________________________. (Please come!) Overview: Students will be researching an animal that lives in Georgia- they will be doing research writing the !inal "ro#ect at school. Students will be re$uired to bring in a "hysical re"resentation %diorama& o! their animal in its natural habitat to "resent during the class "ublishing "arty. 'his "art o! the "ro#ect needs to be done at home. Diorama Project: (ach student will create a diorama %a scenic re"resentation in which scul"ted !igures and li!eli)e details are dis"layed& showing their selected s"ecies o! animal in a three dimensional re"resentation o! its habitat. 'o create the diorama "ro#ect a shoe bo* or other small bo* may be used as the s"ace !or the animal+s home or territory. Students may use a "lastic or vinyl toy !or their animal, or mold one !rom clay. Materials such as maga-ines %!or "hotos&, sil) or "lastic "lants, "o"sicle stic)s, tooth"ic)s, glue, construction "a"er, and other cra!t items may be used. Creativity is encouraged! The following are requirements for each diorama project: A recreation o! the a""ro"riate habitat o! the animal selected. A .-/ "icture or small model o! the animal selected. .-/ "ictures or ob#ects to show "lants and environment. Other animals and "lants li)ely !ound in the animal+s habitat. Students will have limited s"ace to dis"lay their "ro#ect- they will have their des) as a dis"lay area, so all "ro#ect "ieces will need to !it in that s"ace. Students will be "resenting this in!ormation to visitors while standing near their "ro#ect, so a mini speech will need to !e practiced" 'he students and teachers created a rubric together !or how this "ro#ect will be graded %see the bac)&. 'he diorama will be due in class on ______________ so that it can be "resented during our Publishing Party on _________________________________. Students will com"lete the writing "art o! their Georgia Animal Pro#ect at school.
