Reading Students will begin reading Mr. Poppers Penguins. We will use the authentic text to expand our vocabulary and comprehension skills. We will also practice using adjectives. No Book Project in January because of Diorama Project. Spelling: Week Sixteen (Adding -ing to VCe and VVC words) closing, trading, skating, writing, waving, giving, moaning, dreaming, meeting, mailing, cleaning, screaming Bonus: igneous, sedimentary, metamorphic, quartz Writing Students will continue researching and writing their Animal Research Report. Focus will be on Non-Fiction Text Features, Conventions, and Organization. Math Students will begin studying patterns in problem solving. We will revisit the patterns in addition and multiplication. Science Students will continue their study of Georgia Regions and the plants and animals that live there. Science will be integrated into reading and writing as students research their chosen animal. We will also discuss how Mr. Popper tries to provide a proper habitat for his penguins. There will be a test this week!
