The Gold Rush Week 2Day 5: Lets Littrip (60 minutes) Objective Students will be able to identify and

describe how people lived during the Gold Rush in California. They will also be able to identify and describe key locations during this time in Californias history. Standards CCSSRI 1. Explain events, procedures, ideas, or concepts in a historical, scientific, or technical text, including what happened and why, based on specific information in the text. CCSSRL 1. Refer to details and examples in a text when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text. CSSCS: 4.3 Students explain the economic, social and political life in California from the Gold Rush 3. Identify locations of settlements such as Sutters Fort ISTE; NETS S 2: Communication and Collaboration Preparation The teacher will need to prepare the student groups of three for the use of class computers prior to the start of this class session. Materials

Class set of computersset to Google Lit Trips (noted above) Teacher Computer and document camera

Guided Instruction Put the Google Lit Trip link on the teacher computer and project it at the front of the class on the document camera. Show each step of the assignment and verbally explain what each how to complete each part. They should use the remainder of class time to complete the task. Homework For homework this evening, students should go on the Google Lit Trip site and complete any unfinished classwork. They show an adult what they did and explain what they learned through the activity. Adult should sign the agenda to verify.
