Hi and good morning Dr Lee. I am Azilah. A little bit sharing on my background. I am from Lahad Datu.

I am mix Chinese and Malay. My father is Chinese, he is from Tenom and my mother is from the Cocos ethnic. My father speaks mandarin but me and my sibling do not. we can only understand little mandarin but hardly apply it. This is because we are actually closer to our mother's side of the family. i do however learn mandarin that is when i was in the kindergarten where i enroll to a chinese preschool. But basically my mandarin was totally lost. However I do actually are interested in learning mandarin because there are few of my family members that are pure chinese and it will be nice if i myself could apply and understand the same language. I went to SM Sains Lahad Datu for 5 years for my secondary school learning. I came to love English more and more as I admire this English teacher of mine. Whats concerning me is that i do not have basic knowledge on TESL. My degree is in Social Studies where i spent 5 and a half years studying at Teacher Training Centre in Tawau. So I am a bit insecure and worried that i could not perform however i will try my best to learn and to cope with any coming obstacle . The actual reason why I decided to take master degree in TESL is because i am interested in it and i am also assign to teach English at school for all my classes. So I really do think that I need to improve somehow in that particular area. My expectation for this course is that I hope to be able to improve my knowledge and skills in writing research particularly. I also hope to understand more on research methods and ways to conduct research properly according to the correct and proposed method. What I truly expect from my M Ed TESL studies is to be a proficient English language user and to be able to contribute in any possible way concerning pupils English language learning process.
