If we were 10 seconds late By Reece Reyes 7-Jacinto January 29, 2014

` Just think if you woke up 10 seconds earlier, you might have not been late for class, what if you walked to the station 50 seconds later, you might have not caught the last train. Well, if I got in the taxi 10 seconds late, well, I might be dead. 2 years ago, my dad and I were going to a mall to celebrate my sisters birthday. My mom and my 2 sisters took our car while my dad and I took a taxi because our other car was being repaired. We waited for what seemed to be hours but all the other taxis passing by the busy street were occupied, full of commuters going home from work during rush hour. Finally, we found an unoccupied taxi I rejoiced since my stomach was rumbling. The man drove us under the flyover that was before the mall. The road was full of cars and trucks because as I said, it was rush hour. I was bored, really, really bored. I glanced outside the window, I saw a screaming beggar. I thought in my mind OK Is this guy crazy?!. Then I saw a police man shouting BABA BABA BABA! .I thought the beggar was being arrested when I saw another cop with an assault rifle. I thought Is this guy a mass murderer or something?!. My heart was pumping very quickly when I saw another policeman helping the beggar, who awkwardly fell , get back on his feet. I actually thought they were letting him go when I looked behind and saw a man with his face covered with a mask opening the door of the car behind us and saw him pointing a gun at the man who was driving the car. My dad immediately told me to stay down on the floor of the taxi. I was just sitting there on the floor while the taxi driver was frantically cursing and was angry because of the car in the front of the road which is apparently following the traffic lights signals. After 30 seconds, which felt like a million to me, we finally left the road because the traffic light finally turned green, to the relief of the 10 cars in front of us. I was thankful that we were able to get out of there alive, also because when we left the road, I saw the criminal being arrested and thankfully no one was hurt, except of course if you count the beggar who fell. But anyway, I learnt that I should always stay calm and relax , also have faith in God, for it is His choice if I were to join Him.
