Important Dates
-February 14th: Early Release Day. Students will dismiss at 1:15pm -February 15th: Saturday schoolagain School will dismiss at 12:45. -March 6th: PTA Family Night -March 7th: Early Release Day. Students will dismiss at 1:15pm -March 28th: Dancefest @ 9:30am

Classroom News
-Hes here! Hes here! Our class was VERY excited to meet Kebob, our African Pygmy Hedgehog. He will be hanging out with us in the classroom 2 3 days a week until it gets warmer. Then he will begin spending the night here at school. As of right now it is too cold for him to be here for long periods of time. If you would like to help out, please consider donating one or more of the following items: Small bowl for food Paper bedding Freeze-dried meal worms Heating pad (a regular human one would be great!)

-Dont forget that journals are now assigned on Mondays and are not due until Fridays. -Friday February 14 our class will be trading Valentines at the end of our early release day. If you do not want your child to participate please send me a note. -Dont forget that we have another Saturday school this week on Saturday February 15. There will be NO breakfast or lunch served. Please send your child with a snack to eat. Dismissal will start at 12:45pm.

What Were Learning


Reading:
RF2.3d Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis in decoding words. Decode words with common prefixes and suffixes. RL2.3 Describe how characters in a story respond to major events and challenges.

Math:
2.G.1 Recognize and draw shapes having specified attributes, such as a given number of angles or a given number of equal faces. Identify triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and cubes.

Writing:
SL2.1c Ask for clarification and further explanation as needed about the topics and texts under discussion. SL2.2 Recount or describe key ideas or details from a text read aloud or information presented orally or through other media. SL2.6 Produce complete sentences when appropriate to task and situation in order to provide requested detail or clarification. W2.3 Write narratives in which they recount a well-elaborated event or short sequence of events, include details to describe actions, thoughts and feelings, use temporal words to signal event order, and provide a sense of closure. W2.5 With guidance and support from adults and peers, focus on a topic and strengthen writing as needed by revising and editing.
