Cell Comparison

Jennifer Fuentes

Plasma Membrane

School Gate

The plasma membrane regulates what enters and leaves the cell where cell makes contact with the external environment.

The school gate is just like the plasma membrane because it allows who goes in and out of the school.

Nucleus

Main Office

The nucleus controls all cell activity, determines when proteins will be made.

The main office is like the nucleus because the office controls what happens and mostly the activities in the school.

Ribosomes

Cafeteria

Builds the proteins

The cafeteria provides the students with food and drinks just like the ribosomes because it produces proteins for the cells.

Cytoplasm

The Field

Contains the organelles site of most cell activity.

The field compares to the cytoplasm because everyone freely roams around and the field where there is a lot of activities.

Mitochondria

The Teachers

Transforms one form of energy into another.

The mitochondria is like the teachers because they supply students knowledge.

Rough ER

Schools Kitchen

Where ribosomes do their work

The kitchen is where the cafeteria ladies work to prepare the food for the students.

Smooth ER

The Halls

Channels, transports, makes lipids and carbs.

The hallway acts like a channel to where kids can find their classes.

Golgi

Backpack

Prepares protein for use or export, packages, ships.

A student carries the backpacks so that they can carry book to and from school.

Vacuoles/Vesicles

Library

The central vacuole in an animal cell holds water or waste.

The library is like a vacuole because they both store. The library stores all of the books needed for the students.

Lysosome

Garbage

Responsible for breaking down and absorbing materials taken in by the cell.

Garbage cans because all the waste goes there to leave the school (cell).

Centrioles

The Bullies

It is responsible for cell division.

Its like a group of bullies and they cause the school to divide theoretically between people.

Microtubules

Schools Walls

Its the support and the main structural component of the cytoskeleton in cells which provides structure.

The walls are what are keeping the school up giving it structure and support.
