Dear teacher associates: I am looking forward with enthusiasm to beginning my work with the students in your classrooms. I hope to share my abilities when the opportunities arise, as well as to develop myself with the influence and support of those more experienced in the profession. I am currently in my second professional semester at the University of Lethbridge as part of my B.FA/B.ED (dramatic arts education) program. I completed my first professional semester this past fall at St. Patricks Elementary in Taber teaching grade 2. Preceding PSI, I completed my Education 2500 at Barr Colony School in Lloydminster, teaching grade 5. I taught across the subjects in both practicum experiences as well as directed a shadow play during my Ed 2500. I am excited to continue my journey as a teacher with you and to develop experience with a new age group of students. My personal hobbies, and academic major, are largely centered on the fine arts. I have experience both participating in and teaching musical theatre, dance, voice, drama, percussion and creative art. I have worked with students in the arts ranging from age 5 to adult and have both enjoyed and learned from all experiences. Throughout the past three summers I have facilitated musical theatre and percussion workshops/summer camps for ages 9-15. This includes putting together lessons, preparing choreography and prepping students for final performances. Some additional experiences I have, that contribute to my teaching philosophy include: my participation with the Lloydminster Minor Football Association, assistance with the dance program at Lethbridge Collegiate Institute, my leadership involvement at Victory Church Lethbridge, my involvement with the Arts for Social Change UpStart project, and participation in theater-for-young-audiences The Never Ending Story at the University of Lethbridge. My passion lies in equalizing opportunity for everyone to feel that they are a part of something that matters. I feel that one of the best ways to reach this passion is through the development of goals for my PSII. My specific goals for this practicum are to further develop my classroom management and to foster a positive learning environment in the classroom. In order to accomplish these goals I will be diligent, organized, conscientious and professional. Through the above goals I will be working to develop student competencies encouraged by the Inspiring Action movement. I look forward to meeting you both. Sincerely,
