Definition of Teaching Aids

Teaching Aids - materials and equipment used in teaching Audiovisual, audiovisual aids- materials using sight or sound to present information; "language tapes and videocassettes and other audiovisuals" Equipment - an instrumentality needed for an undertaking or to perform a service.

Types of Teaching Aids

There are many aids available these days. We may classify these aids as followsVISUAL AIDS
The aids which use sense of vision are called Visual aids. For example :flashcards(picture,number,word), posters, video, big books, whiteboard, interactive whiteboard.

AUDIO AIDS
The aids that involve the sense of hearing are called Audio aids. For example :- radio, tape recorder, gramophone etc.

KINAESTHETIC The aids that related .with movement. Eg : Role Play, Masks, Costumes, etc. TACTILE The aids that can be touched. Eg : Plasticine, Puzzles, Dolls, Puppets, Realia, etc.
