Recite rhymes or poems, and sing with correct pronunciation, rhythm and intonation:
(i)jazz chants
Learning objectives: By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:
a. chant with correct pronunciation, rhythm and intonation.
Subject b. make finger puppets to perform a chant.
English
Teaching Aids : chant, picture cards, finger puppets templates.
CCE/EE: Multiple Intelligences, creativity and innovation.
Activities :
a. Introduction:
Class 1. Show picture cards to the pupils.
Year 1 2. Pupils name the pictures.
b. Presentation:
1. Display the chant on the board.
2. Recite the jazz chant.
3. Pupils listen and follow.
TIME 4. Pupils recite the chant with guidance.
8.00 9.00am 5. Get pupils attention to the words with the phonemes /t/ and /p/.
6. Pupils read the words twice.
(60 minutes) c. Practise:
Activity 1:
1.Prepare finger puppets templates.
Attendance: 2.Distribute to pupils.
3.Pupils colour the finger puppets.

Activity 2:
Absent: 1.Divide the pupils into groups.
2.Guide the pupils to practise the chant using the finger puppets.

1. Pupils perform the chant in groups.

1. Get the pupils to name the words with the /p/ and /t/ sounds.
