Comprehensible Input Techniques

Modeling: The teacher models for the students what he/she expects them to do step by step.

Hand on Manipulatives: Learning aids students can touch and play with. For example: pattern blocks, counting tiles, magnifying glass, etc.

Realia: Students have access to the real thing. For example, every student gets a ball so we can describe the shape, color, etc.

Commercial or Teacher-Made Pictures: The use of pictures to show an object, process, or topic.

Use of Overhead Projector: Used so the entire class can see. Words, drawings, math problems, etc. can all be done.

Demonstration: The teacher shows the process of how something happens.

Multimedia: The teacher uses, videos, computers, audio, etc. as teaching tools.

Timeline: The teacher uses timelines to visually represent a sequence of events in chronological order.

Graphs: The teacher uses graphs to visually represent numbers and amounts.

Maps: The teacher uses maps in science, geography and history to locate important places.
