Disabled persons to get free education classes


Physically disabled persons who will enroll in public elementary and secondary schools in the country will soon get free special education classes. House Bill 3037, authored by Reps. Diosdado acapagal !rroyo "# nd district, $amarines %ur& and 'loria acapagal(!rroyo "#nd district, Pampanga&, also see)s to adopt and modify a new curriculum that will suit the needs of the disabled persons. *+he bill see)s to de,elop the ma-imum potential and learning competencies of the disabled person to prepare them for ci,ic efficiency and as a ,aluable asset to the community,. !rroyo said. !rroyo said special education teachers who undergo training and attend seminars and wor)shops would be hired to handle special classes for disabled persons. !rroyo said the special education classes for disabled persons would ha,e modern gadgets, facilities and e/uipment and other teaching and learning materials to ensure the full de,elopment of the students. *+eachers will undergo regular training and there will be continuing research on matters rele,ant to special education programs and deli,ery system for disabled persons,. !rroyo said. 0nder the bill, a fi,e(member team headed by a district super,isor will conduct the identification, screening and e,aluation of disabled person. 1i)ewise, e,ery school district shall organi2e special education classes based on grouping, ,ertical and hori2ontal accelerations. +here will be clustering of small groups from different sections in one particular grade le,el to be under a /ualified teacher. 3or ma-imum efficiency, each class or grouping shall be composed of not more than #4 students.
