EN 231 - LAB 5 Mesh Analysis Objective: To measure and calculate mesh currents in a circuit and verify the methods

of mesh analysis with calculation. Equipment and Supplies: Tektronix CPS 250 Triple Power Supply Tektronix CDM 250 Digital Multimeter NI Elvis Workstation 2 - 1k, 2 - 2k, 1 - 3k Resistors

Procedure: 1. Construct the circuit shown above. Measure and record each resistor value for the calculations to follow. 2. Measure the voltage drop across each element in the circuit. Note the positive terminal of each element in your circuit diagram included in your report. Question: Is Kirchoff's voltage law verified around each loop in the circuit? 3. Using the DMM, measure the loop current in each of the three loops. Carefully consider where to connect the meter to measure each mesh current. Note the direction of each current in your report. 4. Calculate the mesh currents for this circuit using your measured resistance values. Question: How do your measured results compare with your calculations? 5. Using your measured values for current and voltages, find the power dissipated by each element in the circuit. Question: What is the sum of all the dissipated powers?
