[Slide 3]  The Industrial Revolution

The Industrial Revolution started at the end of the 18th century. The Industrial Revolution
caused small handcrafted companies to become large factories. Prices decreased and people’s
buying power increased.

[Slide  Timeline]

The IR started in Great Britain and moved its way to Belgium in 1798. Later, France and
Germany followed.

Soon, the North Eastern states of America followed.

Japan industrialised in 1870 as the first non-Western country.

Only at around 1880, the rest of Europe followed.

These days, there are still countries industrialising.

Countries in Asia and South-America are quickly industrialising since the end of the 20th
century. The Asian Tigers like Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong have been
growing tremendously the previous 30 years.

But also, Thailand, Malaysia, India and China are very occupied with industrialising their
economy.

In Africa and the Mid-East, the Industrial Revolution is still on hold.

[Slide ‘France’]

The country we will focus on is France.

We chose France because we thought that the Industrial Revolution is not well known by
many people, in opposition to Great Britain.

We hope you will enjoy the next time with our presentation.
