STRUCTURE OF THE G20 CONFERENCE,BITS GOA

DAY 1 Opening Statement (4-5 mins each country) Each team will take in turns to give a brief on their countrys past and present status in food security policy making. Four agendas will be addressed. Each country will get a minute to speak on the agenda followed by a discussion for 20 mins. Delegates must raise their placard and speak only when the moderator gives them cue to do so. Speaking out of turn will be frowned upon. Agenda One ( 20+10 mins) Major challenges faced by developing countries in coping with food security. Countries can begin with the problems faced in their own nation and follow it up with problems faced by developing nations,in general. Agenda Two ( 20+10 mins) Policy instruments required for improving the status of food security in developing nations. Countries must also weigh the viability of the policy recommendation for their own country. Agenda Three ( 20+10 mins) Strengthening the scientific basis for political action on sustainable agriculture and food and security, while taking into account pre-existing processes Agenda Four ( 20+10 mins) Mandating an International Organization to propose actions to implement sustainable agriculture and food security. Closing statement (4-5 mins each country) Each country will get the opportunity to summarize their views and opinions on all the agendas discussed during the session. NOTE:The chairpersons committee will include representatives from the IMF and World Bank. They will intervene and discuss the agendas at appropriate times. Delegates may use current policies of their respective governments as their base of arguments during negotiations. However, the G20 Youth Summit aims to go beyond simulating existing international policies and promote creative and pragmatic solutions to current world problems. Delegates are encouraged to think outside their countrys boxes and present a fresh yet practical approach to the G20 issues with a distinct youth voice.

DAY 2 This day will involve moderated discussions when all three councils sit together for the formation of the communiqu. The agendas to be presented in the communiqu will be addressed one at a time during the conference. The participants will be notified about the exact structure after the discussions on day 1. The G20 Summits communiqu will be presented at the culmination of the conference.
