Page 2 Hannahs older cousin, Rivka, was supposed to go to America to wed Zalman Chaim. But she died before she had a chance to go. Hannah used her ticket and went in her place. She was only ten years old! Her mother disapproved of Hannahs idea. She thought Hannah was a mere slip of a girl. But that Picture of scotts boat was about to change. I like this book because its inspiring and it helps create gratitude within the reader. For example, Hannah and her family went through scary times trying to survive. They were Jews living in Russia at a time when Jews were not welcome there. I would recommend this book to young girls who, like Hannah, love to write. This book inspires students to be grateful for their freedom and their equality.

Spectacular Samantha, Student of the Month!

By Jalen Brown

eet the Student of the Month from Class 401. Her name is Samantha Rosario. I spoke with her teachers, Ms. Evans-Lora, and Ms. Tolano about Samantha. They told me Samantha earned Student of the Month because she had perfect attendance and she behaved.

There were a lot of choices in the class. Her teachers picked the student that gives a lot of effort and doesnt give up on herself. Samantha does all her homework. She listens to the teachers and she tries her best. She got the award because she works really hard and plus, shes smart. She always helps other students when theyre having a difficult time with math or reading. She does nice things for people. Samantha earned the award, and so can you.
