Mt Pinatubo the Southern Region Volcano

I chose the Southern Region because I am really interested in one specific volcano called Mt. Pinatubo the southern volcano.

First I will describe Mt. Pinatubo. It is located in the island of Luzon in the Philippines that is pretty far from onnecticut! Mt. Pinatubo is "#$%% meters. Isn&t that big' (n )une "*th "++"# Mt. Pinatubo erupted and released sulfur and dio,ide. Mt. Pinatubo was formed from the moving of the plates and belts. More precisely# the moving of the Philippine Mobile -elt. It slid off the .urasian plate! Mt. Pinatubo was dormant for /%%0$%% years until it erupted in "++". It was the second most largest eruption in the 1%th century. Mt. Pinatubo dormant for /%%0$%% years before it e,ploded in "++". 2 la3e was formed after the "++" e,plosion. 4here is a la3e in the middle of the volcano called La3e Mt. Pinatubo that loo3s really blue and fresh to swim in. La3e Pinatubo was created because of rain fall. 4he wildlife had been wiped out in the crater because of the eruption in "++".

5e,t# I will give you a few fact the Mt. Pinatubo&s ecosystem. 2round it there is vegetation li3e ferns and shrubs. 6p to 7%% were 3illed and "%%#%%% people are homeless. "*#%%%#%%%&s of tons of sulfur and dio,ide were discharged into the atmosphere# resulting in a decrease in the temperature world wide over the ne,t few years. 2fter the eruption there were mudslides with volcanic debris that 3illed people and animals 1%%#%%% acres of farm that was destroyed.

Finally# I will tell you why this area is so popular. People li3e to hi3e up Mt. Pinatubo because it is a beautiful place to hi3e. People live near Mt. Pinatubo because around the area the soil is good for farming 8 after the e,plosion of course 9. People ta3e tours because they li3e the astounding scenery. It was totally different than the pyroclastic flow in "++". :isitors visit because the hot springs# 3aya3ing and boating. ;ou can not swim in the la3e because of the harmful substances in it. 2fter the eruption in "++" most of the casualty&s are due to roofs collapsing because of ash. -ut# people still en<oy the scenery.
